Wordless Search
What is it and how did I improve it?
What is it?
It is a visual search designed to help users find what they’re looking for without the need to type or describe it. Instead users can simply interact with images. By interpreting user interactions in real time, AI refines the product recommendations, offering relevant results.
Who uses it
Top retailers around the world use it to improve their customers shopping experiences.
I designed The Wordless Search to be adaptable to any brand. All interface elements are customizable via admin to match with each merchant’s branding, ensuring a seamless fit into their existing ecosystem.
Auditing the current state
To understand the challenges, I conducted:
User interviews and testing: Identified user pain points and validated hypotheses.
Value creation: Documented how users currently interact, their pain points, and features that could address these issues.
Metrics & dashboards
I defined user events to track and built Metabase dashboards to monitor interactions. These dashboards provided insights into user behavior and helped me to identify actionable trends.
I'm comfortable using Metabase, Amplitude, and Google analytics.
Planning improvements
Based on the findings, I developed a clear roadmap.
What to improve: Prioritized updates to improve usability and increase engagement.
How to measure impact: Defined clear goals and expected outcomes for each change.
Detailed proposals: Documented each improvement with clear objectives and expected benefits.
Designing solutions
To ensure the changes were understood by all stakeholders.
Icreated detailed user flows for every proposed solution.
Simplified complex problems into clear and actionable designs.
Created interactive prototypes that allowed to understand proposed changes easily.
Testing and validating
To ensure every improvement delivered measurable impact, I relied on a robust testing framework that included:
Split tests: Compared variations to measure impact.
User tests: Validated changes with real users.
Experiments: Assessed outcomes in various experiments.
